Written by Just Wravel

India is a land of many interesting tales and when you talk about the Himalayas, you will find a plethora of amazing tales and stories that make up for a nice campfire story session.

Described as “The Land of Gods”, Uttarakhand is home to the majestic Himalayas, raw and rough terrains, placid lakes, beautiful waterfalls and many hiking and trekking trails. This makes this state one of the best and most famous places for the tourists to visit.

Uttarakhand is blessed to be the home to many high altitude mountain peaks which adds a unique aura to the state. However, there is one mountain peak which is so surreal that it holds the fascination of many people in India and around the world.

Do you know which mountain peak we are talking about?

We are talking about Mt. Trisul, which is one of the most striking mountain peaks located in Uttarakhand. Mt. Trishul is a massif (group of mountains) of three mountain peaks namely Trisul I (7,120mts), Trisul II (6,690 mts) and Trisul III (6,007 mts).

But did you know how Mt. Trishul got its name? Well, we are here to tell you just that.
Mt. Trishul is made up of three massifs namely, Trisul I, II and III. These three peaks resemble or form a trident, which in Hindi or Sanskrit means Trishul.

The Trishul, or the trident is also the weapon of Lord Shiva. These formations of peaks are really stunning to look at, and therefore it draws a lot of visitors. The first successful ascent of Trisul I was way back in 1907. After that Trishul II and Trishul III were successfully summitted by a Yugoslavian group from the Bidalgwar glacier.

To witness this peak in full glory, you don’t need to go for an expedition to Mount Trishul, rather you can go for some of the treks from where you can get some stunning views of the peak.

The treks in Uttarakhand which you can go for are, where you will see Mt. Trishul are:

  1. Ali Bedni Bugyal Trek
  2. Brahmatal Trek
  3. Kuari Pass
  4. Pangarchulla Peak Trek
