Following in the footsteps of the Himachal Pradesh Government’s decision to open the state for everyone, the Government of Uttarakhand has decided to do the same. These guidelines are effective from today, i.e. 23rd September, 2020 (Wednesday). The government of Uttarakhand has set new rules and guidelines as part of Unlock 4.0 which are as follows:

1. Tourists coming/entering the state of Uttarakhand by any mode of transportation have to register themselves on the smart city web portal of Uttarakhand, which is http://smartcitydehradun.uk.gov.in prior to their travel.

2. Uttarakhand Government has waived off the earlier mandatory rule of minimum stay of two days in hotel/homestay. The rule is not applicable anymore.

3. The incoming tourists need not bring COVID negative reports before their check in to hotels and homestays. However, checks like thermal screening, sanitization, and other health protocols for hotels and restaurants must be complied with and followed strictly. Owners and hotel management of hotels/homestays can frame their own procedures/guidelines for tourists coming for stay.

4. If any tourist is found COVID positive, then the hotel management must inform the District Administration immediately without any delays. District Administration shall make arrangements for random checks to ensure that the guidelines of MHA and MoHFW (Ministry of Health and Family Welfare), GoI (Government of India) are being followed by the Hotel Management/Homestay Owners.

Described as “The Land of Gods”, Uttarakhand is home to the majestic Himalayas, raw and rough terrains, placid lakes, beautiful waterfalls, and many hiking and trekking trails.

This makes this northern state one of the best and most famous places for tourists to visit. It is the perfect time to go for treks to Deoriatal Chandrashila, Nag Tibba, Kedarkantha, Dayara Bugyal, and Brahmatal Trek. If you are not the one to go for treks, you might want to check out our Backpacking trip to Uttarakhand.
