Selection Process for Best Tourism Village
The award is a component of the ministry’s yearly countrywide ‘Best Tourism Village’ contest, which honors rural locations that stand out in sustainable tourism initiatives. The contest judges villages on various factors such as the protection and promotion of cultural heritage, responsible use of natural resources, involvement of the community, and the execution of projects that promote economic, social, and environmental sustainability. The thorough assessment is meant to recognize and commend villages that not only draw in visitors but also uphold the genuineness and uniqueness of their traditional customs and surroundings. This year, four villages in Uttarakhand were recognized and chosen for their outstanding qualities. The selection highlights the increasing acknowledgment of Uttarakhand’s prospects as a top spot for rural and sustainable tourism.
A representative from the state’s tourism department praised Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami for his vision in positioning Uttarakhand as a top tourism spot, stating that his initiatives are starting to yield concrete outcomes in the tourism industry of the state.
