“It is in all of us to defy expectations, to go into the world and to be brave, and to want, to need, to hunger for adventures. To embrace the chance and risk so that we may breathe and know what it is to be free.”
– Mae Chevrette
With the changing times, solo female travel has gained popularity in the past few years. Gone are the days when women would rather stay home than travel anywhere farther than what was needed. Every woman at least once wishes to move on from reading solo travel quotes to truly doing it!
You will read a lot about fear, isolation and boredom while travelling solo. What you will not read is the feeling of adventure and supremacy through this exciting journey. Many women even prefer solo travel groups for women because of the very stigma around it.
Travelling solo gives a woman a much-anticipated sense of escape from society as well as a new perspective of it. The escape is a type of freedom that will forever be unmatched.
Any woman who has travelled solo will describe their experience as a heavenly one. If you haven’t travelled solo already, get going! You need to let time and space allow your mind to wander in peaceful solitude as you pave a new path for yourself and make warm new memories.
But travelling solo is not a piece of cake. To get the most out of your inspiring expedition, you need a touch of practicality and wisdom. Even if travelling solo is not your forte, here are some tips and tricks you can keep in mind before embarking on your journey.
1. Do Your Research
Having fun on your trip is the ultimate goal. But you need to dig deeper and have a rock-solid plan for yourself. The more you read up and ask around, the better your understanding of the destination will be.
To create an enriching travel experience, you need to pinpoint your purpose and intent for your destination. There are plenty of solo travel destinations for females in India. Typically, you will spend hours trying to figure out where to go as a female solo traveller. Take some time out to make sure that the destination is good for you and make sure you learn all about it.
2. Pack Light
You’re going to be a one-man army on this trip. Your comfort and capacity will be the most important aspects of this journey. You most definitely don’t want to be exhausted before you even start the real adventure. Make sure you plan your packing list well and ditch the fancy items (which you definitely won’t need) and stack up on your essentials.
It will be all about survival as a lone wolf and you can do it much better with some weight off your shoulders!
3. Believe In Yourself
If you wonder how to be a solo female traveller? Just believe in yourself. Researching your destination will surely create a good base for your confidence.
The next step is carrying that confidence with you as much as you can. You don’t want to attract unnecessary attention that would make you appear vulnerable.
If you ever are doubtful, make sure you use your surroundings to your benefit. Your female solo trip is going to be a rocky road, but that’s the fun of it! Keep calm and stay assertive at all times. There will be countless solutions to troubles that will come along your way.
4. Stay Sharp
You are the only person that has your back on this journey which is exactly why you need to boost up your senses before travelling solo. Keep your eyes and ears open and make sure you notice every little bizarre thing happening around you.
The precautions may sound a bit over the top but it’s better to be safe than sorry! You don’t want to take chances when it comes to your safety.
When you take precautions like these, you worry less about safe places for your solo travelling trip.
5. Let Go Of Your Phone
Technology is ruling over our lives and it doesn’t seem like that would end soon. This is your female solo trip where you escape from today’s constantly busy and burdened lifestyle. Ditching social media for a while will do you more good than it has ever done you.
Let your phone go and take in your beautiful surroundings. Live in the moment and I’m sure you will discover more about yourself than you had ever known before!
6. Go Local
It’s called a solo trip but it doesn’t mean you can’t help out a few others in the process. You can support the residents and help their economy by choosing to live, eat and buy locally.
This will also give you a chance to blend in with the locals and get the true experience of the destination’s culture and history.
7. Be Unbiased
To truly enjoy your journey, you need to be more open to your surroundings. It’s very easy to stay in your safe bubble without facing any unexpected situations. The real challenge is when you step out of your comfort zone and blend in with the people and places.
Not only will you get the best local experience, but a local smile will surely brighten up your day!
8. Always Have a Plan B
This is the most important tip of all. Your confidence will keep you determined but that doesn’t cancel the tiniest possibility of something going wrong.
There may occur situations with the utmost discomfort or disappointment. As long as you merge confidence and strategy, you will officially be the perfect female solo traveller!
