Madhya Pradesh has been recognized as the “Best Tourism State of the Year” at the Travel and Tourism Conclave and Awards in New Delhi, showcasing the state’s efforts in promoting tourism through its rich history, cultural heritage, and natural beauty. The state, known as the “Heart of India,” offers a variety of attractions for travelers, including the UNESCO-listed Khajuraho Temples and the Mahakal Temple in Ujjain. The award signifies Madhya Pradesh’s commitment to becoming a top destination for tourists, both domestically and internationally.   

Sheo Shekhar Shukla, senior secretary for tourism and managing director of the MP Tourism Board, expressed that the award would motivate the state to further enhance the tourism experience by improving accessibility, infrastructure, and job opportunities in the sector. In addition, Madhya Pradesh’s tourism department has implemented innovative marketing strategies, such as participating in global travel fairs and creating promotional materials in multiple languages. Notable sites in Madhya Pradesh include the Sanchi Stupa, Bandhavgarh and Kanha National Parks, and the ancient Bhimbetka caves.

Adventure enthusiasts can partake in activities like trekking in the Satpura mountains, boating on the Narmada River, and exploring historical sites. This award acknowledges the state’s accomplishments and encourages continual progress in promoting Madhya Pradesh as a top global tourist destination.

Khajuraho
  • Pachmarhi – Pachmarhi is the only hill station in Madhya Pradesh, situated at an altitude of 1,067 meters.
