India celebrated the opening of its inaugural solar-run museum, the Renewable Energy Museum, in Kolkata. Unveiled on Tuesday, this unique museum with its dome shape boasts interactive displays that highlight sustainable techniques and environmental concerns. Fueled by more than 2000 solar panels, the museum seeks to inform guests about the significance of renewable energy resources for a more environmentally friendly tomorrow. For travelers heading to Kolkata, there is a new attraction waiting to be discovered! Guests can learn about various energy sources, ecological concerns, and sustainable methods through hands-on interactive exhibits, trivia, and digital games. The museum features three levels that are connected by a winding ramp, along with a central elevator to the ground floor. The operational duties of the renewable energy displays and models within the dome will be handled by a facility management company.
This company will also assist guests during their visit to the dome museum and supervise the interactive displays, such as trivia and digital games. Additionally, it will oversee the children’s area located within the museum. India’s inaugural renewable energy museum in Kolkata known as the Solar Dome Museum offers a one-of-a-kind adventure. Firhad Hakim, the Mayor of Kolkata, posted images of the unique museum dedicated to renewable energy on the X platform.
Referred to as the inaugural sustainable energy exhibition hall in India, Firhad Hakim opened it officially on November 5, 2024. To reach the location, make your way to Gate 6 at the renowned Eco Park where you will see the round museum standing next to it. Occupying an expansive area of 2.89 acres, the museum stands at a height of 27 meters with a circumference of 45 meters.
A new report from Telegraph India stated that a solar dome museum in New Town now boasts 1,986 solar panels. These panels have the capacity to power the museum’s internal lighting with approximately 180KW of electricity. The three-story museum has already begun welcoming visitors to experience its enchanting atmosphere and explore a one-of-a-kind world in the City of Joy for the first time. A partnership between the Housing and Infrastructure Development Corporation and the West Bengal State Electricity Distribution Company Limited resulted in the creation of this museum. In February 2017, the foundation for the museum was initially set. The construction of the museum was significantly postponed as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
