Tulip Garden Srinagar

Tulip Garden Srinagar

The largest tulip garden in Asia, located beneath the picturesque Zabarwan Hills and with a view of the famous Dal Lake in Srinagar, Kashmir, is set to open to the public on March 26. With over 1.7 million tulips of 74 varieties, this floral wonder is expected to attract record-breaking crowds this spring, with the Floriculture Department expecting a large spike in visitors after last year’s remarkable 4.65 lakh visitors. For six months, hundreds of gardeners and staff have been working nonstop to make sure the garden is in full bloom for its grand opening. In addition to the tulips, the garden also features a variety of other spring blossoms, such as daffodils, hyacinths, cyclamens, and muscaris.

With 1.7 million spring blossoms this year, the authorities anticipate a high volume of visitors.

Records from the previous year show that about 4.5 lakh people visited the garden. With almost 3,000 inquiries already, the garden is among Srinagar’s most visited attractions. Additionally, the department has improved the green areas for a well-balanced look and increased the number of tulip varieties from 73 to 74 in the garden.

The tulip garden Srinagar was created in 2008 with the intention of serving as a springtime tourist attraction in the Kashmir Valley. Unquestionably successful, it was named Asia’s largest tulip garden and entered into the World Book of Records (London) last year (2024). The garden is now in its 17th year and is becoming more and more well-known, solidifying its place as one of Kashmir’s must-see attractions.

The Floriculture Department is inviting guests to fully immerse themselves in the experience by hosting a Tulip Spring Festival in April to commemorate this year’s season. The festival seeks to highlight the area’s rich horticultural legacy in addition to the tulips.

According to the director, the department launched an online ticket booking system this year.

He went on to say, “This entire process will be made online in the next two to three years, and there is also an online ticket facility for the first time.”

To avoid crowds at the garden, a QR code-based ticket booking system has also been installed for visitors at the airport and Tourist Reception Center.
