Winter travel hacks that will make you a better backpacker in 2022-23

Written by Ardra M B

Heading to the hills to escape the scorching summers is a good idea, but in winter, watching the whole place covered in a blanket of fresh white snow becomes even more of a surreal experience. But the colder the place, the more you need to prepare and that can be a task most of us don’t have the patience for. So, let some travel hacks make it easy for you!

It’s not so much the cold that bothers people as it is the fact that they have to pack according to the volatile weather that fluctuates in the mountains.

If you’re lucky, you might get to feel the warm sunlight on your face while the crisp winter air teases your hair, or you might end up watching the snowfall from the sky like trees in autumn.

However, the latter would imply a drop in temperature, which would jeopardize your experience if you aren’t fully prepared.

There are many chic outfits that we envision in our heads. It feels like a crime when they don’t make it to our aesthetic Instagram feeds because it’s not practical in reality, to fit all of those chunky sweaters and overcoats in your suitcase when you are going for a trip.

But who says that your winter wardrobe can only be either warm or tasteful? We are here to tell you that you can travel light and have a wardrobe that Alexis Rose would be proud of!

All you have to do is try these travel hacks in 2022!

Travel hacks that will change your life:

Travel Hack #1: Ditch the sweater

Hack 1: Insulated jackets

Although woolen is considered warm and oversized sweaters look extremely chic, they take away too much space. And also aren’t durable in the long run. Insulated jackets are extremely comfortable, weather resilient, and look extremely cool when paired with denim jeans. Without any worries about getting cold, you can easily indulge in snowball fights!

Travel Hack #2: Spice things up

Will you really be switching outfits three times a day?

Let us not kid ourselves with the whole, “I’ll switch an outfit three times a day.”

We all know how that goes. To be fair, we see the appeal in having different #OOTD every day on the trip but you can achieve that flair without having to carry an extra pair of clothes we know you won’t get to wear. Instead, you can pack winter fashion accessories like beanies, scarves, gloves, earmuffs, and a pair of tights which will enhance your outfit and keep you warm at the same time.

Travel Hack #3: Pack like a pro!

..and this is how you can have more space!

There’s no hard and fast rule to packing but a simple technique that you can adapt goes a long way. Instead of folding your clothes, you can try the effective travel hacks of simply rolling them. It’ll save you tons of space. You can also put small items like lip balm, keys, etc. in your cap or stuff your shoes with socks to have the freedom to pack more.

Travel Hack #4: Less is more!

Hack 4: Carry no more than two pairs of shoes

Please don’t be that person who packs shoes for every occasion. Been there, done that. It doesn’t help at all. We advise you to pack no more than two pairs of shoes for a trip. Instead of packing the chunky ones, wear them so your suitcase doesn’t weigh more than it should.

#5 One of the best travel hacks- Multipurpose items are a blessing!

Carry this to your winter trips
Hack 5: Carry multipurpose essentials

Instead of packing separate items that serve the same purpose, more or less, you can opt for multi-purpose products.

Things like refillable water bottles, scrunchies with secret zip to keep money, dry bags, liquid soap, zip lock pouches, and even coconut oil which works wonders as a moisturizer, after-sun lotion lip balm, all in one.

These are the ultimate travel hacks that you will ever need. So make room for all your clothing and other essentials, and still travel light!
