The Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, is planning the 12th edition of the International Tourism Mart (ITM) in Kaziranga, Assam, from November 26th to 29th, 2024. The primary goal of this event is to highlight the tourism opportunities in the North Eastern region to a diverse audience, both locally and globally.  The ITM serves as an annual gathering for tourism professionals and business owners from the eight North Eastern States—Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Tripura, and Sikkim—to collaborate and network.

Kaziranga, famous for the UNESCO-designated Kaziranga National Park and diverse wildlife, sets a picturesque setting for the event. The presence of the renowned one-horned rhino in the park enhances the allure of the Mart. Around 400 individuals, such as tour operators, hotel owners, homestay hosts, tourism providers, and members of the media, as well as government representatives and overseas students, will attend the event. The occasion will showcase various events including talks by state officials, meetings between businesses, group debates, cooking displays, cultural performances, and a market dedicated to the North East region.   Important educational tours will encompass visits to the Charaideo Moidam, Kaziranga National Park, Hathikuli Tea Estate, and Orchid and Biodiversity Park. These events will give participants a close-up look at the diverse cultural and environmental legacy of the area.

Kaziranga’s ITM 2024 will focus on sustainability, which is in line with the Travel for Life program of the Ministry of Tourism. The event will implement eco-friendly measures, cut down on disposable plastics, and offer shuttle services to lessen its environmental footprint. By prioritizing sustainable tourism, the goal is to create a positive and enduring impact while showcasing the tourism opportunities in the region.  ITM 2024 aims to offer valuable insights to global influencers and international students in the North Eastern region by showcasing its distinct cultures, traditions, and natural beauty. The event seeks to promote cross-cultural awareness and collaboration in the tourism sector.
